Dont Be Afraid To Let Other People See Who You Really Are

Posted on July 11th, 2008 in General by seoguy

Do you know anybody that you consider to be particularly engaging and lively? Take a moment to picture that person in your mind. What is it about that person that you find most attractive? He or she may have a charming voice and a great laugh, but it is also very likely that you find their face very expressive. That person is probably quick to smile and laugh and seems to always have a twinkle in their eye.

A face that never shows any emotion, and never smiles is not very appealing. No matter how attractive or how plain a person’s facial features may be, a great smile can make that person look beautiful to others. When you smile at other people, they will assume that you are in a good mood and that you are happy to see them. This will make other people more likely to want to spend time with you and to know you better.

Allowing our face to show emotions is actually an advantage in developing relationships. Other people are constantly trying to read and respond to our body language and facial expressions, often on a subconscious level. They are trying to sense whether we really care about them or not, whether we are concerned with what is going on in their lives.

If you are a person who is very emotionally sensitive, this sensitivity can be an asset in forming relationships. Use your sensitivity to show empathy for other people. Don’t suppress your emotions, trying to be “cool”. Don’t waste your sensitive nature being sensitive only to yourself and your own emotions. Imagine being in the shoes of the person you are talking with, and let yourself feel the sadness, happiness, excitement or pride that is present in the story they are telling you.

If we repress all our emotions from showing on our face, people will feel frustrated trying to get a sense of who we really are. When we let our emotions show up on our face, sharing in our conversation partner’s joys and sorrows, worries and frustrations, as well as their hope and excitement, both of us feel less alone. Both people will feel more connected to each other.

Sometimes we worry about our facial expressions. We may sense that our smile looks forced, or makes us look nervous. We may worry that we don’t smile enough, or that we frown too much.

One way you can check on your facial expressions is to have yourself videotaped in conversation with another person.

When you review the tape, does your smile looks forced, or natural? Do you look extremely serious? Are you able to portray a feeling of fun and light-heartedness?

If you are not able to analyze the tape effectively by yourself, have someone else you trust give you some feedback.

If you think your facial expressiveness could be improved, you can practice in front of a mirror. Watch your face as you imagine yourself feeling various positive and negative emotions. Imagine yourself hearing a very funny joke. Or winning the lottery. Or receiving a nice compliment. Meeting your neighbor. Getting a present. Having a secret.

Also imagine yourself experiencing negative situations and watch your facial expressions in the mirror. Exaggerate them. Switch back to imagining positive emotions. Are you normally this expressive? Do you let other people see the real you? Or do you try to hide yourself from everyone? Do you like the person you see in the mirror?

Your smiles and other facial expressions will be more natural and more appealing when you are relaxed, rather than tense. If you get nervous when you are talking with others, you may find it helpful to practice body relaxation techniques until you can easily relax at will. Consciously tell all the muscles in your body to relax, even if you have to give instructions mentally to each part of your body, one section at a time. When you are with other people, let your mental focus be on enjoying the situation you are in, rather than imagining what others are thinking about you, or worrying what you will say next.

Let you emotions come from deep within you, and spread to your face, rather than trying to artificially manufacture facial expressions.

The Last Picture

Posted on July 10th, 2008 in General by seoguy

Oops… one more shot…1 2 3 smile!

Years are said to be crazy… funny, weird and cool… as it run fast, we are not aware of seeing the rear view of a simple portrait, full of mysteries and yet the source of our emotions to change the mode of light’s direction.

From our younger years, we are certainly aggressive of doing any thing, or just make a simple obsession that concludes the very best of being a kid. We were not aware of what will happen tomorrow since we care nothing from our context. If there’s an obstruction that hit our back, we just do a single laugh. That’s the trend of being a kid… “Parang hindi na tayo tatanda”.

We have tried to read the unfamiliar phrases on the walls; this is the time when we started to recognize the characters written in every single page of the book. There’s always a second time around when we experienced the first. And the funniest side was…we do counting the numbers in a jump to jump, we were passionate of these things without knowing what is EVEN and what ODD are. But when the times move fast, these numbers are very simple to divide. You can consistently justify what kind of environment do a kid has, “parang laging required gawin ang mga bagay sa simula”. But honestly, we were excited during our younger years because these were the times that we were about to discover the faces of road’s infinity…

All are just typical illustrations of childhood, we were doing the same thing as usual “paulit-ulit na lang” and yet, we were not bored doing the same thing all over again. There’s always an evolution. Every second of a minute and every minute of an hour are known to have a constant change, an innovation for the time, “ang simula ng larawan ng totoong buhay” the PICTURE starts to smile, the picture starts to develop and the pictures starts to divulge real life.

We were dumbfounded that we were more active against other kids. Our first education starts on uncomplicated, “naisip na rin natin kung bakit tayo nag-iisip”. The development of our credibility starts and soon we speculate why being a kid should need to have it understand, it’s simply saying the letters A, B and C and counting the numbers 1, 2 and 3. “Ganito kasaya talaga ang kabataan, alam na natin kung anong larawan ang maaari nating makuhanan”.

Graduation starts after six years, some of us had achieved awards, we start choosing the best secondary school we are about to get in. We won’t ignore the friendship we had from those remarkable years, we treasure the opportunity of having both good and bad times “sa mga kalaro natin noong bata pa tayo”, we have hurt, and we cried and promised not to forget the valuable affiliation during the first developing years of being a human.

We were very glad for we are no longer kids then, this is the time to focus on a simpler life, with expectations and more challenging “buhay hayskul”, the next level of making another perfect shot, the picture which is very confusing with our own hand. We can change the dimension of sunlight with this portrait but we can never change the path of reality.

We are almost on the fence of the other residence, we can easily deal with many things, with people of different faces and attitude, we found real friends and we initially found our true selves too. It was so hard to accept that High School life is just part of the picture of our scrap book. We can make credible things because of our knowledge and maybe because of our power to believe in ourselves. Second Graduation comes; the tears of joy have been witnessed by many eyes, the excitement and undefined feelings of loss and success. “Pero hindi pa tapos ang picture-taking”.

We used to tell our parents of what we really wanted to be… Engineer, Accountant, Architect, Lawyer or a Doctor, but now… “tapos na ang mga ilusyon, dumating na yung time na pumili tayo ng course na gusto natin”. At this moment, we are the voice to give music to a song. We have to decide for ourselves, we should make plans for our own destiny; we should be the one to accomplish the unfinished puzzle of our own identity. There’s always a second chance, there’s always success behind failures and there will always be strength to face the many challenges, College days are the most unforgettable moment of our Academic life, many persons have been met, many experiences have been faced, and many different things have been accomplished.

The Collegiate Graduation has come, “sobrang saya pero siyempre nakakalungkot din, sa dami ba namang paghihirap eh eto na yung result ng lahat ng pinagdaanan natin simula ng tayo ay mag-aral”, we will soon be Engineers and Accountants after months.

After all, we made it through with flying colors. Of course, we are now cited as degree holders. PICTURE TAKINGS are always at stake; this will be the best part of the moment “hindi naman ito ang huling larawan ng paghihirap at mga ngiti ng pagiging isang estudyante”. The Last Picture is not during our last graduation, there will always be another shot of pictures to be taken. Graduation is not the end of the whole thing; this is just the first step of what we are in the future. We are the photographers of our own pictures, the challenges are not yet through because we need to justify what kind of graduates we are, we have to be true Engineers, Accountants or whatever degrees we accomplished for a job.

“Pagkagising mo isang araw matapos ang Graduation… naitanong mo ba sa sarili mo kung saan ka na pupunta ngayon?” This is not a simple question, rather a BIG question that needs an answer. Furthermore, we can not say that life is complete without our friends. Many people were given another chance to give their best, though not provided during their academic years but sometime a great chance to prove their identity in their own fields. If we consider our childhood, we can say that we were restless then, we were not used by many things or by any one. We can easily get in touch with what could be necessary or which needs greater attention.

For every step that we encounter, there are people who always there to give support, our friends… “nakakatuwa na minsan makasama mo sila sa isang yugto ng buhay mo”, You can defend your uniqueness and give importance with your existence with them. People are just people… In our own life, we have started it from being an above suspicion one; we are cultured from our preliminary educations, and strengthened by the environment to face the more challenging life.

Now, we can decide by our own, but we can not determine the truth beyond time. Our new destination in the job is another story; this is also a picture of great accomplishments and joys.

There will be no last picture with this life. Family, Friends and God are the pictures that give the exact existence of us… because if you can see THE LAST PICTURE with yourself, you are definitely stop working! “hangga’t may taong naniniwala sa kakayahan mo, may mga bagay na dapat kang paniwalaan”. Our friends are the mirrors of our personality, pictures are said to be worth a thousand smiles…

The question is… have you seen the last picture of yourself? You may answer it sometime but there will be no LAST PICTURE for there will be an opportunity to take another shot all over again…

Moving Into Your First Apartment-Know All The Costs

Posted on July 9th, 2008 in General by seoguy

When you move in to a new apartment, the landlord may charge you more than the first month’s rent. Before you sign the lease, make sure you understand exactly what you’re going to be charged, and get it in writing.

Security Deposit: This is mini-landlord insurance. The deposit is equivalent to about one to two month’s rent and can cover anything from a broken window to stained carpet. At the end of your lease, the landlord will conduct an inspection and see whether or not he or she needs to use any of the money on anything damaged beyond the normal “wear and tear” during your stay. State law may only use the security deposit for three purposes: unpaid rent, damages and for cleaning stains or any excessively dirty area. The landlord cannot use it to repaint the apartment to make it look more inviting for the next tenants. (That’s illegal).

Cleaning Fee: Since landlords cannot legally use your security deposit for basic cleaning purposes, some of them choose to include a cleaning fee in your lease.

Last Month of Rent: Some landlords ask for the last month’s rent in advance. This way, if you break your lease without first consulting your landlord, he or she has 30 days to find a new tenant before he or she needs another rent payment. If you’re a good tenant, and don’t break your lease, then you’ll save yourself the trouble of having to worry about getting together your last month of rent. (This can be really helpful when you have to deal with all the costs of moving out!) Unlike the security deposit, this charge is non-refundable.

Pet Deposit: This, too, is a form of mini-landlord insurance typically running somewhere around $300.00. The pet deposit is used to cover any wear and tear caused by your pets. Some landlords also ask for a ‘pet fee’ once a month ($20-$50) to cover the cost and inconvenience of the lovely pooper-scooping duties.

Renter’s Insurance: You aren’t required to get insurance, but it is HIGHLY recommended. It’s incredibly easy for an unusual character to walk through the complex unnoticed. New people are in and out of apartments all the time, so you don’t have the same security that a homeowner does. With that in mind, you ought to invest in Renter’s Insurance as protection against theft, water damage and fire.

Parking: You might not always catch that prime parking space, and depending on where your apartment complex is, this could mean parking on the street. If you’re living in the arts district in Downtown Dallas, you might need to feed the parking meter monster or pay for a secured parking lot. Keep this in mind when you yearn for that artsy loft.

Some states put a limit on the deposits a landlord can ask for. For example, in California the deposits cannot add up to more than two-month’s rent. Check out the landlord/tenant laws to get the scoop on your state’s restrictions.

Regardless of how many of the deposits and fees the landlord asks you for, make sure these are all outlined in the lease. If they are not, make a list of all of the charges, when they were paid, then date it and have the landlord sign it with you. Keep one copy of this list and give one to your landlord to avoid any problems in the future.

Inoculate Yourself Against Bad PR

Posted on July 8th, 2008 in Business by seoguy

What is bad PR?

Well, if you’re a business, non-profit or associationmanager, bad PR does nothing positive about thebehaviors of those important outside audiences ofyours that most affect your operation.

It fails to create external stakeholder behavior changeleading directly to achieving your managerial objectives.

And it never does persuade those key outside folks toyour way of thinking, or move them to take actions thatallow your department, division or subsidiary to succeed.

Good PR, on the other hand, really CAN alter individualperception and lead to the changed behaviors you need.At the same time, however, it requires more than specialevents, brochures and news releases if you really want toget your PR money’s worth.

Your inoculation against bad PR is the underlying premiseof public relations, and here it is: people act on their ownperception of the facts before them, which leads topredictable behaviors about which something can be done. When we create, change or reinforce that opinion byreaching, persuading and moving-to-desired-action the verypeople whose behaviors affect the organization the most, the public relations mission is accomplished.

You may be surprised that good PR can generate results likeprospects starting to work with you; customers makingrepeat purchases; stronger relationships with the educational, labor, financial and healthcare communities; improvedrelations with government agencies and legislative bodies, and even capital givers or specifying sources looking your way

As the effort gains momentum, you can also see resultssuch as new proposals for strategic alliances and joint ventures;rebounds in showroom visits; membership applications on therise; community service and sponsorship opportunities; enhancedactivist group relations, and expanded feedback channels, notto mention new thoughtleader and special event contacts.

Just how vital is it that your most important outside audiencesreally perceive your operations, products or services in apositive light? Vital indeed, so assure yourself that your PRstaff has bought into the whole effort. Be especially carefulthat they accept the reality that perceptions almost alwayslead to behaviors that can help or hurt your unit.

Take the time to review the PR blueprint in detail withyour staff, especially how you will gather and monitormatters by questioning members of your most importantoutside audiences. Questions like these: how much do youknow about our organization? How much do you knowabout our services or products and employees? Have youhad prior contact with us and were you pleased with theinterchange? Have you experienced problems with ourpeople or procedures?

The perception monitoring phases of your program canobviously be handled by professional survey people, IF thebudget is available. But always keep in mind that your PRpeople are also in the perception and behavior business andcan pursue the same objective: identify untruths, falseassumptions, unfounded rumors, inaccuracies, misconceptions and any other negative perception thatmight translate into hurtful behaviors.

Now, let’s talk about your public relations goal. You needone that speaks to the aberrations that showed up duringyour key audience perception monitoring. In all probability,it will call for straightening out that dangerous misconception,or correcting that gross inaccuracy, or doing something aboutthat damaging rumor.

The realities of public relations are that goals need strategiesto show you how to get there. And also that you have justthree strategic choices when it comes to handling a perceptionor opinion challenge: create perception where there maybe none, change the perception, or reinforce it. Unfortunately,a bad strategy pick will taste like ice cream on your cornedbeef and cabbage, so be certain the new strategy fits wellwith your new public relations goal. For example, you don’twant to select “change” when the facts dictate a “reinforce”strategy.

Your PR team must create just the right, corrective language.Persuading an audience to your way of thinking is awfullyhard work, so we’re looking for words that are compelling, persuasive and believable AND clear and factual. You mustdo this if you are to correct a perception by shifting opiniontowards your point of view, leading to the desired behaviors.

Here you must select the communications tactics most likelyto carry your words to the attention of your target audience.Meet again with your communications specialists and reviewyour message for impact and persuasiveness. You can pickfrom dozens of available tactics.

From speeches, facility tours, emails and brochures to consumer briefings, media interviews, newsletters, personal meetings and many others. Just be surethat the tactics you pick are known to reach folks just likeyour audience members.

On the chance that the old line about the credibility of amessage depending on its delivery method is true, you mightthink about introducing it to smaller gatherings rather thanusing higher-profile communications such as news releases ortalk show appearances.

Consider yourself alerted when the topic of a progress reportis suggested. Time for you and your PR folks to return to thefield for a second perception monitoring session with membersof your external audience. Using many of the same questionsused in the first benchmark session, you’ll now be watchingvery carefully for signs that your communications tactics haveworked and that the negative perception is being altered in yourdirection.

If impatience rears its head, you can always accelerate thingswith a broader selection of communications tactics AND increased frequencies.

Obviously, this will convert bad PR into good PR by doingsomething positive about the behaviors of those importantoutside audiences of yours that most affect your operation. It will do the job by creating external stakeholder behaviorchange leading directly to achieving your managerialobjectives. And it will pull this off by persuading those keyoutside folks to your way of thinking, thus moving them totake actions that allow your business, non-profit or associationto succeed.

Effective Policies And Procedures - 4 Parts Of The Complete Cash To Cash Cycle

Posted on July 7th, 2008 in General by seoguy

The Cash to Cash Cycle
Final of Series

Part One: http://www.bizmanualz.com/articles/01-05-05_inventory_procedures.html?src=ART78

Part Two: http://www.bizmanualz.com/articles/01-11-05_accounts_receivable.html?src=ART79

Part Three: http://www.bizmanualz.com/articles/01-18-05_Sales_Marketing.html?src=ART80

Part Four: http://www.bizmanualz.com/articles/01-25-05_Accounts_Payable.html?src=ART82

In the past four weeks, we’ve brought to light four key areas in which you can save $250,000 each — for a total of $1,000,000. Point by point, we’ve shown you just how cash flows through these areas, making up the Cash to Cash Cycle.

And as we’ve seen, the cash cycle is undoubtedly the single most important process to optimize for any business – from when you spend money to when you get money.

So now let’s put it all together.

Cash to Cash Cycle Definition

By definition, the cash to cash cycle is a financial ratio that shows the length time for which a company must finance its own inventory. It measures the number of days between the initial cash outflow (when the company pays its suppliers) to the subsequent cash inflow (Accounts Receivables).

Cash Conversion Cycle and Cash Flows

One way to express this is the length of time between the purchase of Inventory (raw materials, etc) and the collection of accounts Receivable created from the sale of your product — also called the cash conversion cycle.

Why is this most important? Because this is your cash flow and because…

Operations Assessment and Working Capital

Businesses live and die by the cash generated from operations. If your operations don’t create cash, then they consume it. A cash-consuming operation means that you have negative cash flow and you are living on financing (debt or equity). But the Cash to Cash Cycle also shows you the amount of working capital you have committed to your organization.

Just add the number of days of inventory to the number of days of receivables outstanding, and then subtract the number of days of payables outstanding. The result is the number of days of working capital your organization has tied up in managing your supply chain. This can be quite a significant number - one not to overlook.

This can also be expressed by the formula: stock days plus debtor days minus creditor days equals the cash-to-cash cycle.

So, for example, a company that keeps its stock for on average 30 days, gets paid by its debtors on average within 30 days and pays its creditors on average within 30 days will have a cash-to-cash cycle of 30 days.

Companies that receive cash from their customers at the point of sale and that have their inventory under good control will have a short cash-to-cash cycle. A company could even have either a negative cycle or a cycle time of zero. For example, if a business’ receivables and payables are held in check at 30 days while inventory runs at Just-In-Time (JIT) levels, then the cash cycle is zero – meaning that this company is in good shape with no working capital needs.

And, of course, when receivable days are less than payables with JIT inventory, then the company will enjoy a positive cash-to-cash cycle – creating more cash on hand.

On the other hand, however, if a company puts payables down to 15 days and allows receivables to grow to 45 days, while inventory remains at steady levels, the cash cycle will be high. And. here, working capital will be constrained to compensate for inefficiencies.

Processes and Procedures Investments and Inefficiencies

Did you realize that working capital is the investment you are making in the inefficiencies of your processes and procedures plus your investment in your suppliers’ and your customers’ inefficiencies too? In other words, if you do not monitor inventory, accounts receivable, sales and marketing and accounts payable to ensure a healthy cash-to-cash cycle, then your working capital needs will not maintain a strong cash flow. The process will be out of control, and will not be optimized to create the greatest amount of effectiveness for the company.

Policies and Procedures Savings

So now you can see the relationship between your cash flow, your working capital and your cash to cash cycle. In order to increase your cash flow, you need to increase the velocity of your cash to cash cycle by reducing the inefficiencies found in your processes, your suppliers’ processes and your customers’ processes. The result is a decrease in your working capital and an increase in your cash. And, as we’ve seen, this can be a significant number – again, one that you shouldn’t overlook.

Get A Discount Epson Inkjet Cartridge And Save Up To 85%…
That Means You Can Buy Six Discount Cartridges For The Price Of One!

You can get a discount Epson inkjet cartridge on sale everyday and save up to 85%. If you own an Epson inkjet printer, you already know that purchasing an Epson inkjet cartridge is not a discount. In fact, the cost of inkjet cartridges can easily surpass the cost of your Epson inkjet printer in only a few months… especially if you do any volume of printing.

The good news is that you don’t have to pay so much for your Epson printer ink. You can get a discount inkjet cartridge everyday for your Epson printer without even leaving your home. It’s fast, easy and convenient with online ordering.

I thought it would be interesting to compare the regular and discount price of three popular Epson inkjet cartridges you can purchase online. I’ll show you what I found below.

Keep in mind that these Epson discount inkjet cartridges are specifically made for your Epson printer from brand new parts. They are guaranteed to be as good or better than your original Epson inkjet cartridge. The major difference is that the packaging does not have the name ‘Epson’ listed on it. Here’s what I found at just one reputable online merchant.

Epson Stylus CX6400 Printer
Type Cartridge EpsonDiscount 1 Cartridge / Multiple
Black (high yield) $30.05$7.95 74%79%
Black $24.98$6.95 72%81%
Color-Cyan $12.98$6.95 46%68%
Color-Magenta $12.98$6.95 46%68%
Color-Yellow $12.98$6.95 46%68%

Epson Stylus Color 8800 Printer
Type Cartridge EpsonDiscount 1 Cartridge / Multiple
Black $26.99$5.95 78%85%
Color $22.99$8.95 61%70%

Epson Stylus Photo 820 Printer
Type Cartridge EpsonDiscount 1 Cartridge / Multiple
Black $25.95$6.95 73%81%
Color $20.95$8.95 57%67%

Two things are very obvious from the information above. First, discount Epson ink cartridges are less than half the cost of the Epson inkjet cartridge. Second, if you purchase multiple cartridges, your discount is significantly higher.

You can actually buy six compatible Epson stylus 8800 black inkjet cartridges for less than the cost of one Epson inkjet cartridge!

Why not get that discount on your Epson inkjet cartridges today. You don’t have to wait for a sale. You have nothing to loose. Just remember to always purchase your inkjet cartridges from a reputable company. At a minimum, you should get a one-year warranty on your Epson inkjet cartridges. You should get a 100% money back guarantee. Your inkjet cartridges should normally ship the same day. The company will usually pay for shipping. Just think, no lines, no high prices… only quality Epson inkjet cartridges at everyday discount prices.

Spiritual Evolution A Journey Toward The Living Light Of Truth

Posted on July 4th, 2008 in General by seoguy

SPIRITUAL EVOLUTION: A JOURNEY TOWARD THE LIVING LIGHT OF TRUTH
by Rev. A. James Hillelson

BORN OF BODY AND SPIRIT

We are born of the body and of the Spirit. The soul dies to one body of existence and is born unto another. Death, the illusion, carries no fear, as we die to the Holy of Holies daily, consciously and with exacting purpose. We, as Spirit-Humans, are in a perpetual state of transformation and transmutation. The Divine Self is a constant living expression of Universal wonders and ever-changing forms through evolutionary processes of the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies that ascend through eternity as a spiraling source of sacred consciousness. In other words, we are alive and eternal through the sacred Will of G-d, The Creator; even unto death within this third dimensional reality. The Body Temple purifies unto ash and the Spirit ascends to the worlds beyond. There is no greater Truth and no higher freedom. This is, indeed, a peace that goes beyond understanding and is eternal.

Humanity’s birthright on this earth plane is the process and progress toward the return to our most natural state, Spirit. The soul evolves through continual renewal and the promises of G-d are made manifest through the individual and collective soul(s) of humanity. This overlighting covenant cannot be broken. It is the birthright of all humanity without prejudice, emotional attachment or struggling mental gymnastics. The veil of unconsciousness and the ‘trail of tears’ due to unrealized, unfulfilled life purpose and spiritual vision may only hide this covenant. It cannot be distroyed.

THE BRAIN AND THE MIND; IS THERE A DIFFERENCE?

The realities of human experience go far beyond the physical and yet most of the world identifies with what they see, hear, touch, smell and taste. Ask yourself as a discerning measure, “Am I a one dimensional being or a multi-dimensional being? “ Then ask yourself, “Am I greater than the sum of my body or my emotions or of my brain?” If you answered in the affirmative to these questions, then continue by asking yourself this potent question, “Do I know my Mind and is Mind something different than the physical organ we call the brain?”

First of all, humanity must recognize through spiritual and scientific knowledge that each individual human is multi-dimensional as we ‘live and breath and have our being’ while simultaneously working within and between many levels of consciousness. This is the Transcendent Mind. The Transcendent Mind Consciousness is G-d Consciousness. As Humanity penetrates what is known as the ‘cloud of knowable things’ in the Acient Wisdom Teachings, we gain the mystical understanding of life. It is this understanding that we begin to consciously connect with the Source of all life-giving creation. We begin the cognizant journey of our birthright through a purification process as we meet the joys and challenges that arise out of the healing alignment between Spirit and matter. What a wondrous and inspiring spiritual pilgrimage as we begin to consiously understand the covenant of our birthright and the purpose of our lives on earth in this dynamic and critical time in Humanity’s evolution.

Let us seek the probabilities of distinguishing the human brain from the ever transcending and ascending Spirit-Mind. The brain is a physical organ that serves the Human Being in experiencing the mortal physical, emotional and mental levels of third dimensional life-form. The brain is a functional instrument of multiple voluntary and involuntary processes. It can be analogized to a computer. The brain stores information, calculates, objectifies, formulates responses or reactions and is the hard-drive that seeks pleasure, fears pain and discomfort as it calculates the fruition of life experiences born of the soul. The Transcendent Mind or the “non-local mind,” is a separate yet inclusive entity known as the Creative Life Force. “Non-local mind” is pure consciousness, unqualified and full of potentiality. It works directly in conjunction with the physical processes of the brain, yet it is not the brain. The creative force, the “Transcendent Mind, is the blue-print of perfection that permeates the life-giving power of G-d, the Creator of All life and defines the omnipresent Divinity as the Light of our purest nature. This Light in all its beauty and glory is synonymous with the Mind, the Creative Source, the consciousness of G-d within Humanity.

THE MYSTERIES OF HUMAN NATURE & THE TRINITY

All of nature, which includes sanctified Human, is the reflection of the Divine Presence. As the sanctified Human, we encounter, ponder and explore through the limitless Mind. What we begin to perceive with greater clarity is illuminated Knowledge that activates Spiritual Wisdom and Purifies all illusion. Living a life full of illusions separate us from the wedded Truth that all of life is connected and all of life is One with the Creator.

Is life a mystery or is it a remembering? Is it both? Is it neither? Can these mysteries be taught or must humanity experience the mystical to actually know the sacred? Are we receiving from the Mind in full clarity or are the experiences of life, the woundedness we carry, the fear that paralyzes and the doubt that falls prey to what I call our Brain Filter, leave all humanity in chaos and confusion?

The Brain Filter responds through the conscious and unconscious self-created life experiences that seem to loom so forebodingly across our lives and yet, in truth, we create experiences to learn, to expand and to reunite with Onesness. Our Brain Filters edge out the subtle yet greater power of the Mind and we find ourselves lost in a maze of confusion, illusion and living desperate lives without direction, purpose or prayer.

We are creative consciousness utilizing the brain as a tool for the Mind as we display both the positive and negative, depending upon our direct focus, concentration and either disciplined or chaotic thoughts, feelings and actions. We are G-d Consciousness. We are the reflective Light in H/Her image. We are Co-Creators through the free-will gift of the sacred Trinity of G-d, The Creator, G-d in Man, and G–d, The Holy Spirit. The communion experience of the Trinity is Humanity’s birthright. It is the responsibility (ability to respond) of all humanity, as we become aware, regardless of religion, spiritual practice, race, creed or colour to esteem the Trinity through the Oneness of this communion. The Triune Communion reflects the inclusiveness of G-d, Man and Spirit; the blessed fruit of ‘The Tree of Life.’ Seeking the powerful discharge of its scholarship within the hearts and minds of all beloved seekers is the method of esteem revealed.

Let us open our Spirit-Human senses to the world of regenerative life. Let us open our hearts to the profound awareness that we are more than mere flesh. ‘We are the soul…’ May we encounter consciously the mystical Mind. May we remember the covenant of the soul; the trinity of Truth that belays any and all separation that the “local mind,” even in the attempts of the brain and the brain filter to convince us through third dimensional illusion, that it is real. The “non-local mind” is the expanded cosmic mind-space where the soul knows that the dimensions of life are limitless, boundless and eternal. The soul is forever seeking, transforming and transmuting for realignment with the wholeness of G-d. It is the integration of the Human-Soul with the Holiness of Spirit that instantaneously unveils and reveals the Truth of Life in the hearts and minds of uncommon thinking humanity.

To live a lifetime without the exploration of the Mind is to live in constant fear, as the brain is limited in its capabilities and yet functionally profound. Nevertheless, to live solely. in one dimensional brain is to waste the essence of Truth of who you are. You are Divine. You are Spirit-Human. You hold undeniable spiritual purpose and fusion. You are in consecrated process and at the same time in ultimate Perfection throughout eternity. The microcosmic human demonstrates its life giving potential in h/wholeness of the macrocosmic heavenly body. Identifying singularly with the physical and not recognizing the bounty of humanity’s birthright as Divine, “human universalis,” as coined by Barbara Marx Hubbard, is dismissing the value of life. In so doing, we create a life veiled from the Truth. It is the joy-filled discipline (discipleship) and conscious free-will (knowledge in action) to either remain veiled or to remove the illusion of separateness. We achieve this with love, gentleness, patience and compassion for our Humanity. How else are we to remember the Sacred Self and live a life fulfilled in its Perfection? Socrates has taught through the ages to “know thyself.” To deny the humanity within yourself is to deny the birthright of Spirit and to disown the very wholeness in which you strive to know. Acknowledge (act with knowledge) and “know thyself” as Spirit-Human; as eternal Mind and BeCome the BeLoved on earth as you are heavenly perfected, from above.

WHERE ARE YOU IDENTIFIED?

Are you ash upon the earth or are you conscious cosmic Mind that lives eternal? The cycle
of life awaits human awakening and transforms the most sincere atheist or doomsday fatalist into an ever budding lotus of creative Love and Inspiration; a Co-Creator with G-d. Is it the illusion of fear that we hold onto so convincingly when all the spiritual and scientific knowledge of contemporary and ancient society suggests consistently what the Holy Texts of
the World Religions and spiritual practices teach, that life is everlasting; that the temple or physical body breaks down and turns to ash, yet Spirit lives.. It is the essence of humanities evolutionary process from one century to the next, from one life to the next.

“There is no beginning and there is no end.” This is the W/Holy Truth of Eternal Life. Why is this so difficult to accept, to know and to reveal in every day life experiences? Why is this? “…to those who are given, much is expected…” Is it the responsibility that holds us back? Is it a sense of worthlessness and fear of failure?

Do we look upon higher Mind as a burdening responsibility that we fear? What is it? We cannot be in-Love and in-fear, simultaneously, therefore one or the other must be an illusion and one or the other must be Living Truth. We each must individually answer these questions as the Truth, unveiled, will be unique to our G-d given individuality, soul experience, life expression, emotional esprit de corp and mindful agility.

Free will, itself, is a responsibility so many of us try to escape living openly and consciously. It seems too easy to blame others for the choices we make. The innate power of balance or imbalance that is offered to us through this potentially benevolent treasure of free will, cannot be ignored. Denial of this tremendous freedom is to create disruption and chaos; ignorance and fear. Ultimately, there is nowhere to hide. The consequences of every thought, feeling and action perpetuate the basic nature of free will.

There are always consequences to our free will. Free will and the empowered responsibility we face require courage. When we face ourselves and accept the responsibilities of our life’s creations, the seeking of our wholeness can no longer result in betrayal, no matter how hard we try. Wholeness cannot be embraced until we learn to understand and nurture the heavenly gift of free will. The bounty of spiritual empowerment received through accepting the personal freedom of free will becomes a sacred responsibility toward a renewed intimacy with all that is Holy. The Wholeness of the Universe awaits our coming. The remembrance of the Holy of Holies, recognizes Itself in the wholeness of the “All That Is.” We are that h/wholeness. Remember the Trinity.

The Christian Bible shares that faith and belief in G-d is necessary to propel h/himself into eternal life. Faith and belief are essential keys to the heavens. It is a part of the wholeness in which we urgently seek, whether consciously or unconsciously, Yet, it is only the base steps on the majestic mountain we are climbing. Faith and unquestioning belief are merely embryonic steps on the path of spiritual knowledge and should not be confused with the end-all of Christian responsibility. Do not misunderstand my words, I am not suggesting that humanity is to follow one decidedly correct religion or faith and that one separate and particular congregation of people have the singular right-knowledge of G-d. It has been the impulse of humanity’s lower nature from the genesis of the Christian Church to gain power and control with an elitist and fear-ridden agenda. Look at the breakout denominations and sects within the Christian Church and throughout all major religions. Learn to recognize man’s ego structure that denies, defies and denounces the Human Spirit.. Learn for yourself where deceit lies and with love and compassion, transform and transmute this ego driven insanity into the well of spiritual alignment.

ARE YOU CALLED TO REVELATION?

Whether you are called to the Christian Faith, Buddhist Faith, Jewish Faith, the Islamic Faith or any other religious or spiritual faith, G-d lives. Seek the knowledge within them all and discover for yourselves the fragrance of heavenly Light that weaves Truth in all Holy Texts of the World. You need not be a scholar nor do you need to study World Religions in depth, if this is not your calling.

Yet, a basic knowledge of the major religions and spiritual practices of the world will unify all people as G-d teaches the same wisdom throughout all major non-violent religious documents as well as the mystical experiences that shake up our world of conscious realities. The language may be different. The symbology may appear different, however, the essence remains consistently the same. The sum and substance of G-d speaks to Hearts and Minds without separation of race, creed or colour. We are of One race, the Human Race and it is to this remembrance that peace, compassion and eternal vitality thrives.

Reveal yourself, oh, Spirit-Human. Follow your Heart as it is aligned with consecrated Mind. Do not follow mindlessly and certainly do not follow another human, no matter how seemingly knowledgeable, competent or charismatic a presence. Meet your own powerful Presence. You will then ‘know thyself’ as knowledgeable, competent and charismatic. These are qualities of The Christ that live within you. Hone those qualities. Tune yourself to the vibrational frequencies that will lead the way toward world service. These qualities already exist. Unveil them. Develop them. Seek knowledge, wisdom and Truth within your own Holy Being and the intimacy of experiencing your blessed Self will build a foundation in which to be sanctified through Universal Christhood. Boldly go where few have tread and serve humanity with high consciousness through your beloved indwelling Spirit. The thread of Universal Spiritual Truth will be discovered when you allow for the expansion of knowledge through conscious willingness to explore, investigate, and question the grand covenant of G-d’s promise, “…ask and you shall receive.” Don’t be afraid. Challenge the sacred promises of G-d within your Mind and throughout all religious texts. Ask with conviction and expectation. As you receive each piece of the mystical and scholarly puzzle, you will discover that each question and response requires another question and then another and another. Thus, the evolution of our Mind’s awareness transcends level upon level of revelatory knowledge as we seek the h/wholeness of life within the Spirit of consecrated reality.

THE MIND IS A SACRED PLACE TO LIVE

How many religious sects throughout the world have bellowed throughout the ages of their
righteousness in holding ‘The Truth?’ How many ‘followers’ have merely become sleepy
sheep without thinking Minds of their own? Remember to be lukewarm is to be spiritu
desolate and unfulfilled. It is better to be proactively and provocatively ignorant than to live without passion for Truth, whether we are able to hold it but for a moment and live it but for an instant. Discover your passions. Re-flame your inspirations. Question life and in so doing, you are no longer milk toast, aimlessly following what you do not “know” yet have blindly accepted. If you are bored with life, you have lost your fire. The essence of your Spirit is not openly expressing Itself. You are Spirit. Rediscover your passions and your inspirations. Let your Mind Light the way. Imagine, Create, Inspire and Serve. These are the four major keys to the expansion of the Mind; your G-d Consciousness in action.

The Mind is a sacred place to live. The journey is a fountain of inspiration. There is no burden in creative service that pulsates through life-giving Spirit. There is no oppression as we freely take ‘the yoke of The Christ’ and seek to express this wondrous union with all life. When Master Jesus urges humanity to ‘take the yoke of The Christ upon us,’ He is not asking us to take on a weighty load upon our shoulders to grudgingly carry throughout eternity. He is teaching humanity to accept a conscious union with G-d in service to the Light. Jesus teaches over and over again, “I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. YE ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.” This is our birthright. Know yourself as ‘the Light of the World’ and know the lightness of true freedom.

The wisdom within the teachings of Master Jesus is asking all of Humanity to recognize, remember and respond to our Divine Birthright and become the Masters of Light; the spiritual leaders of the 21st Century. We are eternal Mind. May we each take upon us the liberating yoke of Life, whatever religious faith and spiritual practice(s) we cherish as our expression to the world. We are a “…point of Light within the Mind of God…” Take up the Cross of Ascension while laying to rest the Cross of Crucifiction and be Born to the Light of your Sacred Self. Embrace your birthright and BeCome the BeLoved.

8 Procedures To Take Control Of Sales And Marketing

Posted on July 3rd, 2008 in General by seoguy

The Cash to Cash Cycle
Part Three of Series

Part One: http://www.bizmanualz.com/articles/01-05-05_inventory_procedures.html/?ART78

Part Two: http://www.bizmanualz.com/articles/01-11-05_accounts_receivable.html/?ART79

Next Week: Accounts Payable

We’re sprinting toward that million dollar mark…and we’re only a couple strides away…

Decreasing inventory carried us over the first hurdle, and last week reducing Accounts Receivable sped us through the half-way mark. We’re making great time, so let’s bring on the next mile marker – marketing and sales.

Increasing Overall Sales and Marketing Effectiveness

If you are an organization spending $500,000 or more on marketing expenses (e.g. advertising, trade shows, print materials, direct mail, etc.) then STOP! We found it again. Why you ask…? Because marketing has the greatest potential of being very unproductive. In fact, many marketing programs struggle to break even, and actually frequently lose money. So if we increase the overall effectiveness, then we can eliminate 50% or more of your wasted marketing efforts, which translates into $250,000 in cash.

So now, let’s see how this actually works in a real-life scenario.

Sales and Marketing Company Policy Case Study

An organization with $500,000 in marketing expenses needed assistance. We examined their sales and marketing process to understand and quantify the lead flow, follow-up, and demand forecasting issues. Then we designed and implemented a process to improve their sales cycle efficiency and tie it closer to their customer’s buying cycles. After the marketing reductions, we then reinvested $100,000 back into new processes for public relations and Customer Relationship Management (CRM), both of which were suffering badly.

The metrics we developed reduced their marketing expenses by 60% overall and increased their sales cycle efficiency from 40% to 60% within 6 months of implementing the new procedures. With these new processes and reports, the company now tracks sales cycle efficiency and life-time value rather than just sales quota achievement, as the measure of their sales & marketing effectiveness. The result: an extra $300,000 in cash plus a 50% increase in process capability (capacity).

As we have seen time and time again, time can be our best friend, if only we let it.

Methods to Design the New Sales & Marketing Process

•Improve Follow-up. Only about two percent (2%) of sales occur on the first contact. Eighty percent (80%) of sales will require five to eight contacts before the sale closes. This means that if you are contacting the prospect less than five times or more than eight times, then you could have a problem with follow-up.

•Sales Cycle Efficiency. Time kills deals. The speed at which a prospect is converted into a customer and the number of prospects required to make that conversion determines your sales cycle efficiency. So ask yourself, are you taking the right steps to measure and reduce lost sales?

•Life-Time Value. How profitable a given customer is over time defines your LTV or Life-Time Value. Companies spend ten times more to acquire a customer than to keep a customer. However, existing customers are more likely to purchase again, spend more money, and therefore become more profitable. If you don’t know your LTV, then how do you know how much money to spend and on which customer segment?

•Demand Forecasting.

Every customer buys on a cycle. So this means that you should track cycle times and variance to increase the accuracy of your forecasting and the loyalty of the customer. Do you know when your customers need to reorder?

•Improve Lead Quality. Do you have methods in place to measure the conversion potential of each lead? Lead generation activities (i.e. forms) should pre-qualify every new lead so that you can take the right follow-up actions for the marketing offer. Strong leads produce strong sales.

•Increase Awareness. To keep the sales pipeline full of good quality leads you must continuously increase the awareness of your company and the solutions that it provides. Public relations is more efficient at building awareness than advertising, yet many companies spend wildly on advertising and trade shows while neglecting to fund public relations efforts much at all. Increase your name recognition, not your budget.

•Reduce Discounting. Discounts represent deficiencies in the sales & marketing processes, which means that you should use them sparingly. Instead, determine the root cause and then fix the process that’s causing the need to discount. Show customers the added value, and they won’t focus on price.

•Train Personnel. Provide your sales & marketing personnel with regular formal training. This will arm them with better product knowledge, as well as presentation, negotiating and selling skills that will improve effectiveness. This will boost both employee morale and the bottom line – a win-win.

Control of Sales and Marketing Policy and Procedures

Improve your sales cycle efficiency. Reduce your marketing expenses. Tie it closer to your customer’s buying cycles. And take control of your sales and marketing program to let it work for you.

Improvement with Well-defined Policies and Procedures

With well-defined processes and procedures in place, you will increase efficiency by reducing ineffective sales and marketing programs. And, again, we make such improvements to create more cash on hand – all toward that million dollar goal and to cross the finish line.

Next week, we will hurdle the final $250,000 mark with the Accounting Payables function – so close you can see it.

Get More Than Just A Presence On The Internet

Posted on July 2nd, 2008 in Business by seoguy

The water purification salesman had been talking to us for what seemed like hours. During a lull in his monologue, I asked if he had a website.

“Yes. In fact, we are the only independent distributors of this product who does,” he proudly beamed.

“So you get a lot of leads from the website, then?” I asked.

“No, actually I don’t think we’ve gotten a single lead from it,” he replied.

“Then why do you have a website?” I wanted to know.

“To have a presence on the Internet.”

A few days later, our home inspector was giving us an update on the state of our house. We had bought it a few years earlier in winter, when snow was on the ground and on the roof, and we thought an update would be a worthwhile investment.

“Do you have a website?” I asked.

“Yes, I do. But, I don’t think a single customer found me that way.”

“Then why do you have a website?” I asked.

“To have a presence on the Internet.”

A lot of entrepreneurs and small businesses are sold on paying for a website because it is important to have a presence on the Internet. For many businesses, that is true. But what does “a presence” mean?

Would you open up a store in the corner office of the fifth floor of an office building, or would you open it up in the mall?

Would you leave the windows bare, or would you fill the windows with merchandise and open the door to make your store inviting?

Would you ignore customers when they enter the store, or would you carefully place merchandise and staff to maximize the revenue from each visit?

“A presence” is only valuable if the website serves a purpose, if it fulfills its goals. Just sitting there, somewhere in cyberspace, is not a sound business strategy. An experienced website marketing consultant can help you determine what goals, if any, are viable for your business website.

Here are a few of the goals you might want for your website:

Online pamphlet

If you connect with customers by telephone, this is an ideal way to instantly deliver a pamphlet to them. No mailing, no delays, they can even call up your information while you are on the phone with them. This website has to look credible and be choc full of information.

Credibility booster

If you are selling a big ticket item, particularly one that requires a good reputation, a website can help. This website should look upscale and focus on credibility-boosting content. It is ideal for speakers, consultants and other business-to-business service providers.

Lead generator

One excellent use for a website in many non-retail businesses is as lead generator. The idea is to funnel traffic (website users) into the site and lead them to take action.

Such action might be to call you, to request a brochure, to request a free sample, etc. The main requirement for this is the maximum amount of targeted traffic possible, of people interested in what you have to offer.

By way of example, my marketing strategies website at serves these first three goals: online pamphlet, credibility booster and lead generator.

Email Address Gatherer

This is really a form of lead generation, but it is unique in that you are not trying to sell through the website, but through an email newsletter (also called an ezine). The website is there primarily to pique interest, and the newsletter is there to build affinity and trust in order to make the sale. You need to have a newsletter set up, and you need targeted traffic.

By way of example, my personal growth website at serves this goal, attracting subscribers to my Daily Dose of Happiness

Sell

Of course, if you sell hard goods, electronic goods or even many services, you can make the sales right online. You need some form of payment gateway and/or shopping cart, and your website needs to be able to make the sale from start to finish, which is not always easy. Of course, you also need customers in the form of targeted traffic.

By way of example, my liquid vitamins website at serves this goal.

What you want your website to achieve should dictate the look, the structure, the content, the writing style and whether or not the site is optimized for the search engines. Before investing any more money of time in your website, invest the time required to determine the goals you want your website to achieve.

Or you could be like that water salesman or my home inspector, satisfied with having “a presence”. Of course, many people go through life having “a presence” on Planet Earth, but most entrepreneurs I have met are go-getters. If “a presence” is not good enough in the real world, why settle for it in the online world?

A website should be an investment, not a cost. If your website is not working for you, or if you feel your business should have a website, determine realistic and useful goals, then set your website up to achieve them.

Maybe you don’t need a website at all. Or maybe your website could double your profits. Either way, don’t let it sit there gathering dust somewhere in cyberspace.

Romantic Italy

Posted on July 1st, 2008 in General by seoguy

Today, Norm Goldman, Editor of www.Bookpleasures.com & www.Sketchandtravel.com, is pleased to have as guest of Thetimesharebeat.com, Maria Liberati, supermodel and author of the soon to be released cook- book The Basic Art of Italian Cooking. The cookbook will contain recipes Maria discovered as a guest of various agriturismi (country farms), as well as her family’s vineyard. It also includes her encounters with chefs of some of Italy’s trattoria (dining establishments). In addition, the cookbook contains stories about Maria’s travels around Italy.

Maria is a former Miss Pennslvania and Miss International World, however Maria has confided in me that she wouldn’t consider herself a ‘pageant junkie’. It just gave her a great deal of experience and self- confidence. She holds a degree from Temple University in Foreign Languages, and is now in demand by many European type food companies to serve as marketing consultant, as well as spokesperson on TV and in print ads.

The following is an interview conducted by Norm Goldman, Editor of Bookpleasures. Com and Sketchandtravel.com, with Maria, who provides us with some very timely information pertaining to romantic getaways in Italy. Maria now lives six months of the year in Italy.

Norm:

Please tell our readers something about yourself and your expertise pertaining to romantic getaways in Italy?

Maria:

My grandfather and his family owned a vineyard in the mountains of Abruzzi, and I practically grew up learning a great deal about Italian cooking. Moreover, due to my modeling career, I spent a great deal of time in Italy.

When I was not modeling, I had the opportunity to study regional Italian cooking at what are known as ‘agriturismi.’ This is the Italian word for country farms that are also bed and breakfasts serving meals produced from the fresh foods grown and produced in many different regions of Italy.

Generally tourists tend to know about the popular and crowded places that can be very impersonal. Traveling by car and foot throughout Italy has provided me with windows to some of the most spectacular venues.

Norm:

You mention that you have a great deal of experience of staying in bed and breakfasts on organic farms in Italy (agriturisimi). Could you tell our readers something about these B&Bs and why you consider them to be appropriate as romantic or honeymoon destinations?

Maria:

The ‘agriturismi,’ aside from being great places to learn about Italian foods, tend to be some of the most romantic vacation spots in Italy. They are usually located high up on a hill with breathtaking views of a town. If located in a city like Rome, they would be found away from the principal areas. Consequently, they are usually situated in peaceful, serene and picturesque settings. What could be more romantic than staying on a vineyard, and being able to take a peaceful walk picking a fresh piece of fruit to munch on while your walking?
Moreover, staying in an agriturismo you are guaranteed to always have an abundance of the best quality freshly prepared foods. No doubt, this is far superior to eating at restaurants that cater to tourists and which often are very pricey.
All- inclusive packages are generally available and in most instances will prove to be much more economical than a stay in a hotel.

Norm:

Why would you consider Italy a good choice for a romantic getaway or wedding and honeymoon destination?

Maria:

Italy is beyond doubt one of the best places for a romantic getaway or honeymoon- not only because of the variety of breathtaking beauty and romantic views surrounding you, but also the Italian lifestyle.

Italians love romance, their songs are all based on romance and about love. People love to see couples walking hand in hand or arm in arm. Even just the simple ritual of eating a meal has a romantic feel to it. When you sit down to eat dinner at a restaurant or even at a bed and breakfast it is meant to be a long, drawn out ritual. In other words, an activity that is shared and enjoyed between two people, and not something over with in 10 minutes.

Take for example picnics in Italy. If you opt to have spontaneous romantic picnics, you have access to some of the most romantic locations in the world. Moreover, at your disposal are a variety of fresh bread and pizza at the local “forno” (pronounced ‘for-noh’), as well as cheeses found in local cheese shops or supermarkets.

Even some of the major cities such as Rome, Milan or Florence, all have their quiet venues, where you can savor your food and enjoy the romantic ambiance.
The center of Rome has the Villa Borghese, and of course, if you don’t mind the noise and crowds, there are the Spanish Steps.
Not to omit the Coliseum and the Roman Forum that are popular areas for impromptu picnics.
If you are in a small town, it is certainly not difficult to find a beautiful view in a quiet place. One word of advice, please always remember to respect the property you are on and clean up after your picnic.

NORM:

Why have cooking classes in Italy become so popular?

Maria:

Actually it is a new trend and my own company has received many requests to put together these packages for couples. In fact, I am working with a journalist on an article that will shortly appear in February 2005 in Women and Fitness Magazine. Of course it is themed around St Valentine’s Day. Anyways, it is a trend for couples to take cooking classes not only in Italy but also in the USA. What better way to share a wonderful experience and create something together, and then enjoy the romantic experience of eating what both of you just created?

It is time that Americans catch on to what the Italians have known for years- that cooking is a wonderful romantic experience. It is non-threatening in that you can be creative at your own pace together- and then partake in a romantic meal together. It can be a prelude to watching a romantic movie. You can even go shopping together at a local fresh food market before you cook the meal. So it is a wonderful romantic trend and it is becoming more and more popular.

Norm:

When is the best time to visit Italy from the point of view of weather, costs, and crowds?

Maria:

I have visited Italy during every season and there is almost no bad time to be there. However, if I had to select my favorite time it would be summer and fall, when I can enjoy the beautiful Italian sun shining down on the colorful scenery.
August is usually the most the sunniest, however it is also the busiest.
If you don’t want to chance the crowds of August, July can be a great month because the weather is usually warmer.
Early fall can be great cost wise, and usually by the end of August the Italians, as well as the tourists, are back to school and work. Late fall you would be into the rainy season.
Christmas is another possibility, and a very beautiful season. However, it can be crowded and pricey, unless you stay in agriturismo. It is less commercial than in the States, as houses are not all lit up with Christmas bulbs. The foods you will experience and the feeling in the air are so romantic! Spending New Year’s Eve in the center of Rome and watching the spectacular fireworks display over the Coliseum is something that I do every year and is an experience like no other.

Norm:

If you had to choose 5 unequalled venues in Italy for a romantic getaway, honeymoon or wedding destination, what would they be and why?

Maria:

First, I must say that it is really difficult for me to narrow my choices down to 5 venues. Please also note that some of my picks are not the usual places people may choose. I like to find the unusual and the not highly commercial favorites.

-The Island of Ischia: In August 2004’ I visited friends, who own and operate a wonderful bed and breakfast in the town of Forio. Located atop a 30-mile island that is divided into about 5 separate, tiny cities, of which the city of Ischia is the principal one.

Why Ishcia?

It is famous for its spas as a result of the thermal waters. You find saunas that are not man made but actually exist inside a cave on the side of the volcano in Ischia.
The view of the sea, while you are at one of the outside spas enjoying a thermal bath or on the beach, is absolutely breathtaking and you will imagine you are in paradise.

The blue of the water and the sky is so intensely blue that you will feel like you are in the middle of a living painting- so to speak.
It is amazing how revived you feel after taking the water cure of the thermal baths- although I’m sure the ‘soaking in of the scenery’ has a lot to do with it also.
There are also little towns to wander around in. Each of the 5 towns in Ischia has their own little square, which is very romantic, and the main town of Ischia has its own castle. There are also little romantic outdoor cafes, shops and coffee bars as well as the glow of the moonlight basking on the sea and an occasional outdoor musician singing old romantic Neapolitan songs accompanied by mandolin music. Oh the romance of it all!!!
If any of your have seen the award winning Italian move- Il Postino- (The Postman), the island that it was filmed on (Procida) is right next to the Island of Ischia.

-ROME: The next place I would select would be the city of Rome. Yes it is a big city, but as many well-traveled Italians will tell you- there is nothing like the city of Rome- if you know how to find your way around.

WHY ROME?

To walk around Rome is analogous to living in an art museum.
Rome is made up of different hills with magnificent views. My favorite is Monte Mario with its breathtaking panorama of the city. Another is the top of the Spanish Steps, where in front of the steps you have a beautiful fountain. If you go to the top of the steps you have gorgeous views overlooking the city and you can also enjoy one of those impromptu picnics here.
Don’t forget Villa Borghese- it was the territory of the royal family. Borghese is now a beautiful park- dotted with beautiful statues, ponds- another great place to savor a romantic walk and an impromptu picnic.

One of the most romantic piazzas (square) is Piazza Navona, particularly at night, where you will find many outdoor restaurants and beautiful statues. There is the famous and beautiful-Bar de la Pace- which is located at a far corner of Piazza Navona. It is a favorite of international celebrities. And if you want to have some great pizza- again ask a local for a ‘forno’ and you will experience some great, freshly baked pizza and bread. The Romans are famous for a type of roll called a ‘rosetta’ it is crusty but at the same time light and airy. So ask for a rosetta, fill it with cheese and you have a wonderful picnic type lunch or snack.

-Venice is a very romantic spot. I hesitate to recommend Venice; although it is one of the most beautiful and romantic spots in the world, it has just become too ‘touristy’. However, if you visit Italy and can do it, you must see Venice and experience its beauty.

WHY VENICE?
Just riding on one of the water taxis that take you to the island can be romantic as you take in the beauty that surrounds you. If you really wish to have a romantic view of the city, take your taxi ride at night, when the moon glistens on the water and the beauty of Venice is lit up by the glow of the moonlight.
You will fall madly in love with your romantic significant other, while experiencing this kind of view together.
Of course, there are the other traditional things to do, as a visit to St. Mark’s Square, or enjoying one of the outdoor cafes and restaurants, and exploring the little canals and back alleyways.
As for eating establishments, the key in finding great food is to find smaller more intimate dining places that cater to the locals rather than the tourists.

-TUSCANY
Tuscany is a beautiful romantic destination.

WHY TUSCANY?
Here you can find several romantic ‘agriturismo’ serving wonderful fresh foods and located in out of the way places-you are away from the crowds, yet with the possibility of day trips to Florence and Pisa. In this way you avoid the pricey hotels and at the same time experience the feeling of really living in Italy.
The wines made in Tuscany are wonderful- be sure to experience them.
Florence is a city overloaded with beautiful works of art.
You have of course the Uffizi Gallery, which houses some of the world’s most beautiful works of art. Outside of the Gallery there are statues of some of Florence’s most famous citizens including Michelangelo and Galileo- all who had a rich Florentine patron to support them in their works.
Two romantic spots in Florence are: the main square, which is the Piazza Della Signoria, where you will find a replica of the statue of “David” (or as the Italians know him- the Davide), and the Ponte Vecchio. This bridge crosses over the Arno River and from the bridge you have a beautiful views of the city. Add to this, the walking tours of the vineyard regions- like Chianti or Montepulciano and you have yourself a winning spot.

-OLTRANTO
Oltranto is located in Puglia and is a sea resort.

WHY OLTRANTO?
If I may use again an Italian film to give you the feeling of this landscape- see the award winning film-“Meditteranneo”- a wonderful comedy about the war, but the scenery is breathtaking. Most of the film takes place in parts of Greece. However, Oltranto’s deep intense blues of the water and stark pristine white colors of the surrounding buildings will bear a deep resemblance to the colors and waterfront scenery in this film made mostly in Greece.
Due to a lack of industry in Oltranto, the water is crystal clear.
Oltranto is also filled with outdoor cafes and shops that overlook the deep blue sky and clear water. There are many other beautiful towns near by that are worthy of day trips. Lecce, which is about 30 minutes away is a beautiful, elegant art-filled city, most of the churches and statues are Baroque. Lecce is a perfect spot to take a romantic walking tour. In any of these venues you won’t find the crowds of tourists found in other popular venues. Also worth a day trip is Alberobello. It is a very touristy town, but worth it to appreciate the ‘Trulli’.
Trulli are these cone shaped houses that are in certain areas of Puglia. These were actually used as houses many years ago. In Alberobello most of the specialty shops are located inside the Trulli. You can really experience a lot of unspoiled countryside and the beaches are clean and not as yet commercially organized.

NORM:

How far in advance should a couple prepare themselves for a honeymoon or getaway in Italy?

MARIA:

For a honeymoon or romantic getaway, you should really start getting your ideas and plans together at least a year in advance. For reservations, etc for hotels, destinations, you need to plan that at least 3- 6 months in advance. Italy is a favorite destination for many, especially for weddings and romantic getaways.
Certain times of the year tend to be more overbooked- especially in the summer. SO it also depends on the time of the year.

NORM:

What people should know about planning a wedding in Italy as far as requirements, etc.

MARIA:

If you are an American citizen you mainly need three documents to apply for the proper documents for an Italian Wedding:

*A US Passport
*A Birth Certificate
*If you were divorced or widowed- a death decree

The documents that the Italian government requires are:

*The Atto Notorio, which can be acquired on your own in the USA. This basically consists of you meeting in front of an Italian Consulate (go to one in the closest city near you in the USA) with your own witnesses. Each consulate has different requirements. (Call your closest local Italian Consulate to get their requirements for the Atto Notorio).

*The next document is the Apostille. This is a document you get from your Secretary of State’s office. It is just a matter of contacting your Secretary of State’s office filling out a form and sending it to them and they send back to you a seal that is considered an Apostille.

*Your birth, divorce and/or death certificates will need to be translated into Italian by your Secretary of State’s office.

These documents expire after three months. You cannot get these completed more than three months in advance.

Thank you Maria and good luck in all of your future endeavors.

Maria has her own WEB SITE that is presently under construction and will be completed by the spring of 2005’.
